Teeth whitening can help to drastically improve ones smile. Having white, bright teeth can make individuals look younger, fresher and more attractive. A beautiful smile really makes a great impression on others. Whether or not someone gets their teeth whitened professionally or does it themselves, teeth whitening sensitivity is a risk. However, the risk is higher when individuals get have this done professionally because the bleach used during the process tends to be more concentrated.

Teeth sensitivity can cause discomfort when a person eats or drinks. Eating or drinking hot or cold substances can cause great pain discomfort. Individuals will need to be very cautious and careful about what they consume during the whitening process and shortly thereafter. They may need to only eating food at room-temperature or avoid eating very hot and cold food and drink.
When many people experience teeth whitening sensitivity, they often worry that the condition might be permanent. Fortunately, it is not. Use a Desensitizer: Ones dentist can apply a desensitizer to the teeth after the whitening process. This helps individuals better deal with the effects of hot and cold foods and drinks on the teeth. Teeth desensitizers can also be purchased over-the-counter. These often take the form of toothpaste, mouthwashes and even gels.
Use a Soft Bristle Toothbrush: A soft bristle brush is much gentler on the teeth. Hard bristle brushes can cause teeth enamel damage, making the sensitivity worse.
Use Lukewarm Water When Brushing: Because extreme temperatures cause the sensitivity to activate, avoiding both hot and cold water while brushing can be very helpful and decrease pain.
Use Products With Fluoride: Fluoride helps to build up the enamel which can help diminish the pain of teeth whitening sensitivity.
Teeth whitening sensitivity is a real problem that many people suffer from. It can be quite painful. Fortunately, there are ways for individuals to make it less severe. Applying a desensitizer product to the teeth can be helpful, as can using a soft bristle toothbrush to clean the teeth and lukewarm water to rinse. Using products that contain fluoride can also help decrease the severity of the pain.
